As an Associate in Leveraged Finance, you will immerse yourself in the world of leveraged buyouts by assisting senior colleagues with structuring, executing, and distributing complex financial transactions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve conducting thorough industry research and company analysis using sophisticated financial modelling tools. You will play a pivotal role in preparing both client-facing materials such as presentations and pitch books and internal documentation required for approvals. Collaboration is central to this role; you will work closely with various teams including Private Equity Sponsor Coverage, Capital Markets, Mid Market Direct Lending, and other product specialists to ensure seamless delivery of financing solutions. Building strong relationships internally across departments as well as externally with clients is essential for success. You will also support ongoing portfolio management activities by monitoring accounts for refinancing opportunities or amendments while ensuring compliance standards are met. This position offers significant exposure to high-profile deals within a supportive team environment where knowledge sharing is encouraged. Conduct detailed industry and company analysis as directed by senior team members, utilising advanced financial modelling techniques to inform decision-making. Develop relevant analyses including sensitivity scenarios, impact assessments of reorganisations or disposals, IPOs, synergies, key ratios analysis (including credit rating agencies), and liquidity judgements. Support the preparation and presentation of client marketing materials such as presentations and pitch books, as well as internal approval documents including credit applications and screening models. Assist with all aspects of deal execution during mandate development and transaction completion, ensuring accuracy and timeliness throughout the process. Work collaboratively with Private Equity Sponsor Coverage, Capital Markets, Mid Market Direct Lending, and other product teams to maximise revenue opportunities and cross-sell initiatives. Build relationships across departments to establish a peer network for information gathering and effective inter-departmental cooperation. Create and maintain trust with corporate clients, private equity funds, and partner banks through relationship-building activities on transactions. Support Relationship Managers in maintaining ongoing dialogue with clients to identify future business opportunities. Assist the Leveraged Finance Portfolio Management team in monitoring accounts, waivers, amendments, refinancing opportunities, and ancillary services engagement. Conduct initial compliance and KYC checks for clients in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements. What you bring: Demonstrated experience working within a banking or advisory transactional environment where teamwork was essential for success. Detailed understanding and practical application of financial modelling techniques used in leveraged finance transactions. Solid grasp of deal structuring fundamentals relevant to leveraged finance instruments. Basic knowledge of legal documentation associated with leveraged finance debt instruments. Intermediate credit skills enabling informed judgement on liquidity and risk assessment. Ability to negotiate effectively with internal partners while maintaining positive relationships. Excellent interpersonal skills that foster collaboration across teams and build trust with clients. Proven ability to manage tight deadlines involving multiple stakeholders without compromising quality or accuracy. Clear written and oral communication skills suitable for preparing presentations and engaging clients.
